I burnt out my tranny a couple days ago. So I dropped the tranny and x-case, and took the whole thing into a guy to have him rebuild my tranny. I wanted him to look at the x-case also because I could hear it grind when I'm crawling up a hill or anywhere else there is a lot of pressure on the front axle. So he looked at my x-case and said that my chain is worn and that would explain the slippage and grinding noises. I dont have much money (all of it is already going twards the tranny) but I do have time, so I was thinking can I rebuild my transefer case? I have rebuilt engines before and feel confident doing things mechanicly, but draw the line at auto trannys. Does the case require any special tools or skill so rebild? What parts do I need or is there a kit?

Grind it 'till you find it

I dont know about the 203, but Standardtrasmission.com has rebuilt kits. I called about my 241 and the kits comes with seal, rings, bearings for like 199 and the chain was seperate for about 70.
As for doing it, I haven't jump in and done it yet, but from what I've heard they aint to bad.

Will work for beer, parts and tools.

I have done many, I am in Tucson and will offer Tech help if you need it. Try and buy a NP205/NP203 manual
    from a Transmmision supply house.
