Ok, I pulled that heavy mother out from under the truck and now I plan to replace all of the seals and gaskets (After disassembly.

Help please! If you have taken one of these apart, please let me know if there are any special tools I need, or any pitfalls to look out for. Do the yokes come off fairly easy? How do you hold back pressure so you can loosen the nut?

Thanks in advance for your help.

Well if your just needing external seals all but the input seal could have been replaced with it in the truck. You can also replace the chain with it in the truck.
If you have air tools that's going to be the easiest way to get the yokes off. There is a tool that you can bolt to the yoke to hold it If you don't have the air tools. You could make one with a 1/4 plate if you had too.
    Good link for the manual.

Thanks for the info. The reason I took it out of the truck is that a bolt broke off in the transfercase adapter plate. There was NO WAY it was coming out. I tried easy outs, welding another bolt, etc. So I got another adaptor. All of this just to change out the transfer case mounts! It's always something. Thanks again.
