just wanted to know if this could be done relatively easy. i know i hear bad things about the 700 but the fact is i don't do heavy duty wheelin, i might try and shoot up a sand dune or a forest access road, but won't be going over any boulders or trying to go where the mules go in the grand canyon. i would like to switch to an automatic b/c i like the fact that it is better in the sand than a manual, also has overdrive. i hate to say it but this is mostly a pavement pounder :( so is it possible to take off the np203 sm465 and install the other with little problem? if so i might have a np203/sm465 for sale soon or swap.

If it can't be broken then I haven't had it.

It is easier than going the other way. If you are interested, I am doing about the opposite of what you are doing. I am going from a TH700/208 to a SM465/205. I will have pretty much what you will need to do the conversion. My tranny need a rebuild, but everything else is good.
If you are interested in any of my stuff or have any questions, shoot me a PM.

It is just as much fun to build it as it is to bash it

If you decide to do the 700/208 route, let me know if you would be interested in selling the 465/203. All I really need is the 203 range box and adaptor.

will do if i sell, i am thinking of putting the 203/456 under another rig, one that i can trick out all the way and not worry if it is street legal or anything. i don't have a body for one though, or a frame.

If it can't be broken then I haven't had it.

What kind of frame do you have in mind?

I have a perfect '85 short bed 4x4 bare frame. Its so good, you can still see the factory paint and stenciled numbers and letters. I have a photo copy of the title this frame came from. I paid $500 for it and would sell it for $400. Getting it to you would be the kicker. [IMG]

i would love to trick out an old side-stepper, probably the frame you have would work for a body like that. not really interested in the body that would mount up. might just do sheet metal over a roll cage to keep the branches from getting me on the trail.
