Got a question i have an 86 blazer with a 305 and a 700r4 trans. If i mounted a Np205 in place of my Np208 will the 4wheel drive shifter go into the same slot in the floor? or am i going to have to cut the floor to make it fit? The Np205 is out of an older Chevy, (late 70s) and is a fixed yoke rear ouput.

NP205 shifter comes out in a different spot. You can heat up and bend the 205 shifter handle to fit though, which is easy. it takes very little bending. However, you will have to drill/self tap new holes to screw the 205 shifter boot to the floor.

Why insist on counting when the ring gear has the tooth counts stamped in?
