    72 k5 ? should the shift rail post (that has a tab welded to it) should the tab be 90 degrees to the shift rail link (plate steel that links the two shift rails) thanks...dean

    The rail with the tab is the range rail. I found a couple of different configurations of that “tab” when I was looking to replace mine… a simple rectangular piece of steel, and the one that’s on my case now which has a “nub” on it that meets the rail link. The tab is basically 90 degrees to the range rail, or parallel with the link. With my case in 4-low, (both rails in) it has about 1/16” clearance between the nub and the rail link. Hope this helps…

    It not a range rail persay but the shift rail for the rear output. Has 3 detents high-N-low. Just as the front rail has the same 3. 2 high is simply the ft outputs in N
