I have a NP241 out of a 88 chevy full size truck (manual trans). I'm putting this into a different truck and need to know how to hook up a manual speedo. This t-case has i believe and electronic drive. Does someone sell a conversion? is there something i can get from a junk yard? also does anyone sell a SYE kit for this t-case? what would i expect to pay for a SYE?

It should be mechanical. The first year for electrical was '90 i think.

The electronic speedo drive started from `90. So it won`t be a problem for you.

Well if i'm not mistaken the speedo drive is on the t-case. My t-case has to electronic connectors on it one is on the case just right of the front out put (looking down on the t-case with the rear out put at your feet) and the other is on the tall shaft housing. This t-case is out of a 88 chevy pickup truck, manual trans i don't know if this makes a difference or not. I don't see any other spots to connect anything else besides the shift leaver. So what do i do then? What are the two electronic connections for?

One of the connectors is for the 4x4 light, I don't know what the other one is.

The front one is your 4x4 light and the back one is for the speedo. If you take the back one out and look inside you will see a 40 tooth exciter ring.

Good luck! I don't think there's a gear in there to drive a mechanical speedo, but I could be wrong. Pat

There is not a gear in there to run a cable speedo. I just went through the opposite trying to get a cable drive NP205 case to work with my electronic speedo. I had to have an exciter ring machined and the housing tapped for the VSS. There is no way to make your case work with a cable drive speedo short of replacing the tailhousing and possibly rear output with a cable driven version.

Why not just install the speedo unit in the tranny, much like a 2WD application???
