ODD gear ratio\'s........have you ran them or can I get them?

I am running 3:73's with 33's and with the new tires I'm about to install,( 35's ), I want lower gears. I drive it daily and with a th350, 456's will be a little low so has anyone ran a 4:27 or 4:33 ratio in there rigs? And is it available in an X-gear for the smaller carriers I have?

You'll only find odd ratios in odd axles. I had a '62 Willys Overland Wagon with some odd-ball Dana axles that had 4.27 gears. But for our stuff you'll only find 3.73, 4.10, 4.56 in the range that you're looking at. /forums/images/icons/frown.gif

So no such luck with Randy's Ring&Pinion, or another specialty shop huh........well shoot. Any one run 35's or 36's with 4:56 ? Could you give me your RPM's at 55mph with a TH350 , see how harsh it would be to run them.

I would think that 4:56's and 35's would be a little lower.....but maybe not? Guess I will have to find out this summer,..... might just have to go to 37's next year.

    Should be about 2550 RPM @ 55 mph with 35's and 4.56's. That's with a true 35" tire diameter...

Thats a liveable RPM...but I never drive just 55. At 65 it would be turning 3000 RPM...

I dont think your SOP meter would notice the difference between 4.33 and 4.56 enough to justify the cost/hassle factor
