Did a np203 ever come with a skid plate? Or am I just going to have to try and fab one up?[IMG]

Yes, the 203's had skid plates, very rarely, since the '80 and older trucks were not too common with the skid plates.

I've removed a few plates from both the 203 and 205 equipped trucks. Granted, the 205 trucks were more numerous to having the plates, but the 203 trucks did have them, too. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

    Well, sort of. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

For the '73 to '80 years, there were 3 different skid plates available. /forums/images/graemlins/tongue.gif Depending on which kind you want, I would say, "good luck." /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I have a collection of all the skid plates available from GM for the '73 to '91 trucks. There are 6 different plates available for these years. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

muddytazz-----according to the RPO list I have NY7 is Transfer case shield (skid plate)--so check your glove box for that RPO code NY7. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Mine was also a NP203 transfer case.

    Good luck

I know mine only has one, but that second one might just be the crossmember for the other end of the skid plate to mount to.

I've got a 77 K5 with a 203 and I took a skid plate off of an 83 K5 with a 208 and it bolted right up to the crossmember. Holes mated up perfectly and it looks great. I don't see why it wouldn't work on yours.

Is it possible to get a pic so I can see how it is mounted? No hurry.

Most definitely mine has one my other rigs had one. Would wheel it without one or the Xfer case brace.

What Nosmog showed you in that pic is one of the 3 I have. One other plate looks like what Mike posted, but is a little shorter, using only 4 bolts to mount to the 2 crossmembers instead of 8.

The other plate is the kind that mounts to only 1 crossmember.

Yes, the '81 to '84 plates will work on the older trucks, but they are shorter length than the actual '73 to '80 plates. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I think I'm gonna start looking for the one in the pic and even the other crossmember...I like how it damn near covers the whole thing /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Yeah, those types are the stronger and better ones. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I like the fact that adding another crossmember braces and helps stiffen up the frame a little bit more. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif
