Today I received the following phone call. No names have been posted to avoid incriminating the mentally challenged.

    Quote:

"I wanted to jump start the 6 volt battery in the Mule today with the 12 volt from our Cadillac. We found the postive plus sign on one side of the battery but couldn't locate the minus sign on the other so we couldn't figure out where to place the negative jumper cable."

:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

Real call from a real person

The best part was when I explained there were only 2 posts + and - :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Even more interesting explaining the difference between 12 and 6 volt.

Nope, hell Fumes - talking to you is almost as funny as the original call. :haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

They wanted to hook up a V8 cadillac w/ 12V battery using jumper cables to a Kawasaki "Mule" with a 6 volt discharged battery for a jumpstart.

DANGER WILL ROBINSON!! ..not a good idea!..

I used to jump my 63 VW Beetle's 6V battery with a 12V one all the time--but its VERY dangerous, the 12V battery immediately starts charging the 6V one as soon as the jumper cables are hooked up--and the 6V battery will start producing hydrogen gas!..one spark, and BOOM!...:eek1:

I blew one 6V battery to smitherines in the "Bug",when jump starting it one night---(and my Bug had little interior left a few days later, the acid ate the headliner and seats, and corroded the crap out of the floor!)--that's when I decided to buy a new 6V battery--but my friends dad showed me how to drill and tap into the 12V battery case, into the lead cell connectors inside it,and put a bolt in it,so I used only 3 of the 6 cells,to get 6 volts!..It worked slick!..got me by for months, outlasted the rest of it!..

No your right it's 12 volt. That was the point of this whole thread.

Not only do they not know how to find the negative post once the positive side was identified - they also thought the battery was 6 volt when it was clearly labeled 12 on the side.

:D The mysteries of the multiverse.
