Changing oil for first time. What type of oil should I use? I've heard not to use multigrade (5W-30) on a diesel, but I could be mistaken. How much oil does a 6.2 hold?

Also, where is the fuel filter?

    Thanks,

Rotella-T, the only way to go. Takes about 7 quarts if I recall correctly.

A girl at a deli that I used to go to was named Rotella. Seriously, I use the Rotella T, even in my lawnmower.

I also use Rotella, but now you are going to start a new thread that went for weeks.
Do a search (it was about a couple of months ago and I am sure a few before that)and you will find basically 3 brands that most people will agree on.

and to cover all the bases before the fertilizer hits the ventilator, all 3 are good oils. My preference is the Rotella-T. I'm not saying it's the only Oil you should use, it's just what Me, Myself recommend and have been recommended. I have been told some Big rig manufacturers will void their warranties if you use anything BUT Rotella.

I personally use ACDelco 15w40. I usually use Delco filters too.

Whatever oil you choose to use, make sure that you change the oil and filter out every 3000k max. There has been lots of discussion on this topic, and it seems that the factory service intervals aren't frequent enough to keep your 6.2 running top notch.

Also consider using Stanadyne fuel conditioner due to the new low-sulphur diesel that is available nowadays.
