Have any of you experianced oil on top of the intake. I was looking under my hood yesterday and found oil on the left center portion of my intake (as your looking at it) There no leaks around the valve cover. Any Ideas...could it be blow back from my PCV ?

I have the exact same thing on mine.
I clean it and go to see where it is coming from and it is full again. New valve cover gasgets didn't cure it and a new pvc grommet did no good.
The bolts are tight on the intake(Edelbrock performer) with washers on them.
This is the only place this engine leaks oil.

I had the same thing there when I bought my truck. I cleaned it off, and it hasn't come back yet. That was about 4months ago, but I vaguely remember tightening down the TBI to the manifold and the intake manifold-to-head bolts. Maybe that's the trouble, loose bolts on the manifold. Mine's only been 4 months, but it's still dry where there was oil...

Had this problem on our '94 Sub a while back, did this fix and haven't seen a drop of oil since:

Remove the intake bolts that are nearest to the puddle of oil. Clean them up good and then apply some Permatex #2 sealer on the threads. Reinstall the bolts and torque them to spec. No more leak. [IMG] Some of the intake bolts thread into oil passageways so they need to be sealed to prevent leakage.

The center bolt holes in the heads for the intake are open on the bottom directly into the lifter vally. Crankcase pressure can push oil up past these bolts and onto the intake. The remedy is to remove the bolts and replace them with some RTV on them. You also need to check the PCV valve to make sure it is venting off the crankcase pressure that causes this problem. Hope this helps.

You need to use sealant on all of the intake manifold and head bolts on a small block Chevy motor.
