high speed chase.don't be scared ,all name will be changed to protect the innocent. i work in SOUTHFIELD,MICH.it boarders DETROIT on 8 mile road. i've been there 20 years and have seen some great chases. makes the sh!t on -COPS- look silly.by the by john langley is gay.his narraration is BULL SH!T!!! one episode happened here in farmington,mi. on 696 and the cop swerved right into the un marked car.????? and for some reason the guy they were chasing stoped. dick neck says" due to his training the persuing officer was able to stop the chase". WTF??? he stopped it all right:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: lucky for him the bad guy stopped too.anyway southfied don't fu** around, they will ramm you no matter what.8 mile is a divided highway ,4 lanes wide on each side and i've see a car going the wrong way with 15 sfield cars chasing AND shooting.on time we stayed late at work and saw a chase at11.00 pm,it was an escort GT with th tires flat and a IROC Z with the tires flat. doing at least 70 mph with a boat load of SFPD chasing. after they passed we took off to watch, well a SFPD car going the oppasit direction jumped the median and blew the escort out. it went air born and landed on its roof and the cop car landed on top of it.:woot: they won't let e'm leave the city. SO have any of you guys done anything crazy or does your city frown on it like DETROIT??

    Exactly...................................

I have video, taken from the Great Thanksgiving Pursuit of my partner using his Exploder to "park" the guy we were chasing.

Now my dept. policy is that our cars are not to be used as weapons, tools or otherwise come into contact with the car we are chasing at all costs. In fact, my partner had to talk our boss down for a few minutes after that one because what had happen was the scrot had swerved into him and my partner just used some driving "skill" to keep from damaging his patrol unit. We are not equipped to be pulling PITs nor do we have the budget to pay for repairs. That is why God made troopers. They have the money and cars to play crash 'em up and I'm here to tell ya, mention "TVI" (which is the Okie version of PIT) around a Trooper and we almost have to Taser the goofballs to calm them back down. :D

Now with that being said, we have, along with all the other agencies around here have the best pursuit policy in the world. It's written in legalese, but in plain English it reads "we'll chase their ass until someone runs out of gas or crashes." :D

Jeremy you race enduro? Seen plenty of those manuevers in enduro racing. Heck it would be a good training tool for the local PD me thinks :) Of course where I'm from the cops have no chance :D the only things that run from them are Crotchrockets and ATVs in winter. In either case they have no chance.

yeah, i've done a little of everything. demo derbies (driven fullsize, built fullsize, mini cars, trucks and vans), enduro racing, figure 8 racing, roundy round (asphalt, and done dirt twice), drag (both street and on the track), a little bogging, and a little tough truck type stuff.

Your right about the coppers having no chance in the winter against a ATV, they could probably catch some slower ones though and people who can't ride lol.

I never had a problem riding in the snow on the streets where I live, but I aint gonna stop if they wanna chase me! I don't know what the penalty is if they wanna throw a fit, and I don't wanna find out, so i'll just crack her wide open and leave um lol. I think my quad will do 67-69mph stock

Like I said, it's against my department policy. We're not even trained for it and we don't have bumpers on the cars to do it.

It would take a very extreme situation for someone in my department not to get strung up the flagpole by the sheriff for crashing up a car or pulling off a PIT.

that must be frustrating to not be able to take someone out. when i watch some of the chases on TV and the guy goes down a side street, all i can think of is kids getting killed. i say smash that fooker before he does kill an inocent person. BUT our punkass lawyers would be on his side. he was already taking a chance with his life ,you guys(police) should be able to do what ever is nessecary. my bro mike told me his first day on the job in DETROIT, they were doing a drug bust. he was trying to pull some big buck out from under a car. he had one cuff on the guy but every time he pulled him from under the car he didn't have the leverage to put on the other. after the third time he said another officer came out of nowhere and put both knees in the guys back from a flying jump.:haha: he said he heard all the air leave the guy and he cuffed him easy. mike was like -alright then.:)

This is just my blatant ignorance of the police system talking here, but do they ever just deploy some scary man with a very large rifle ahead of the chased car at a road block and blow the **** out of the radiator, tires, and such?

If so, I want to apply for that position

I think this is a true story. I'm sure Bubba can dig around and get the facts. Early 80's, Pottawatomie County, OK (my birthplace). Escapees from big Mac, Chevy van on I-40. Numerous attempts to stop them fail. Our sheriff at the time Paul Abel sets up crosswise on I-40. Here come the bad guys, not slowing down. Paul has his full auto M16 locked and loaded. One magazine later, the van is stopped and the chase over.

Never heard about, but that doesn't mean it didn't happen just because I happen to be related to cops here in the State of OK that have ended pursuits with gunfire.
