I know you listen to country, and you say you live in the boondocks, what are some good boondocks/ backwoods country songs. Like Charlie Daniels - Legend of the Wooly Swamp or Jr. - Country Boy can Survive. Stuff like that??

    You :cough:think:cough I listen to country?????????????? :p:

Songs that scream backwoods huh? Apparently the previous responses, they haven't been in the backwoods all that long. :D

Some of the more popular ones would of course be some Charlie Daniels and some Hank Williams, Jr. The one song off the top of my head right now would be "Choctaw Bingo."

I doubt if it's played on radio. I've hear it every so often on XM, the X Country station. I think James McMurtry's version is more popular since that's the one I hear all the time, but there's an old boy by the name of Ray Wylie Hubbard that sings it also. Hubbard's version is slowed down just a tad and he has a way of singing a song that just rocks out. Right now, I cannot think of any other song, but any other artist that screams inbred hillbillies in the backwoods of SE Oklahoma running around with automatic weapons while cranked out............................. :D

    Nothing to add....

I'm a huge country fan,but I cant think of any other artists or songs--Hank Jr,'s "Country Boy Can Survive",and "I Got Rights",Charlie Daniels "Legend Of The Wolly Swamp" and "Leave Them Long Haired Country Boys Alone" are pretty much all I can think of right now that fit that mold, other than pehaps David Allen Coe as suggested already..maybe some of Waylon Jennings and Merle Haggard too..There is a new song called "Boondocks" on the radio lately--I think a band named "Big House" sings it,but im not 100% sure..

I'm not that well versed in that part of country music, though I do enjoy listening to it..I'm a sucker for the female country and bluegrass singers mostly.. :D ..I bet if you poke around on a few message boards like CMT's ,you'd get some good answers...There are many bluegrass songs that have that backwoods feel to them, and have spooky lyrics in them about murder and deceit. ..

Oh yeah! One of the 'classics'. Just listening to some of those songs so made me want to visit those places like Luckenbach and Austin when I was over there but we got held up so long in Arlington that we didn't have time as we had a planned 2500 mile route and only a few days to do it in (but we still saw some great places on route). Maybe another time! :D
