I recently read that Chevy bought the company and the rights to the Bummer fiberglass body conversion and promptly closed the business down. Something about too close in resemblance to the H2. So what's left? I have an almost perfect candidate I am about to buy - a rolled '87 blazer. The drivetrain and frame seem to be good - it still runs and drives but the body is toast. Just curious if anyone knows.

Go here, you may find something that has been stolen and stripped but the body, burned engine, things like that. Its where I bought my 96 Z71.

There was a guy in Stanton, TX building hummer look-a-likes. I'm not sure if he was making them from scratch or using some kit. It's based on a Chevy frame, not sure which, and looks pretty close to the real thing.

Check out the original website @ www.bummer-kit.com. They have a new kit, which looks pretty cool. I don't think it has the clearance on the hummer, but it could always use a lift.
