    for $250 /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

It needs help though and that means I need your help.

It leaks from the transfer case (bad)
It smokes (oil) pretty bad after start up.
The front axle needs to be replaced.

    However the A/C works /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif
The body has NO rust and a couple of very small dents.

What would be the best (and cheapest) way to get this bad boy on the road? Suggestions? I want to use ot for a DD and off road toy later on.

Since you got it for that cheap just fix it up. Im sure this isnt your DD.

Get a NP 205 TC since yours is messed up.
    Get a rebuilt engine. I sugest either a 383 or 454
If you need to replace the axle get a dana 60. Its the only way to go.

PM me if you need any other info.

How hard is it to swap a T/C?

I've done engine swaps before, never a T/C.

If you're swapping in the same TC it'll be way easier than an engine swap I'd say.

i agree..really not that hard at all if your swaping the same one..hardest part it getting to the top bolts...i beileve there are 6 bolts hooking it to the tranny..and getting it up and down is really nice if you have a tranny jack..

If its just leaking out the back where the drive shaft goes in its prolly just a bad seal or maby also output shaft bearing. Cheap and eaey to fix.

It smokes (oil) pretty bad after start up.
Could be just valve guide seals. Common problem in 350s. You can either live with it or put in new valve guide seals. cost about 15.00 for a set.

The front axle needs to be replaced
10 bolts are cheap maby 150.00 tops.
    What is wrong with it?

i just sold a pair of 3.73 10 bolts from a blazer i had for 100 bucks..so they are out there..but they did need going through..the only way i would think the whole thing would need replacing is if the gears were shot or something..

It clicks and grinds turning and going straight. The FT drive shaft is disconnected.

if you had a way to get them Id give you my 10 bolts as soon as I get my 60. Shipping would be out of the question. It would be cheaper to go buy some at a junkyard.

Try and take out the locking hubs in the front and drive it, maybe they are just assemblied the wrong way or something like that. If the clicking goes away after you take them out you might just need new locking hubs which are about $65 ~ $85 depending on the brand.

The PO hogged out the passenger side auto hub and the noise/grinding is on the drivers side.

I'll start looking for the T/C leak tonight. I hope its a seal and not a crack /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

hey ive got a running truck with a shot body... now i should find a body with a shot frame lol...

transfercase swaps when using the same model/version are easy, why not toss a set of reman vortec heads onto your motor if its just valve guides leaking, a little boost in power never hurt anyone...and if its just a hub problem, ditch those auto hubs and spend 75 bucks for some good manual hubs and be set..
