When i bought the winch, the guy said that if i dont stretch the cable before i use it then i will ruin the cable, I was thinking i could go to the highschool parking lot and drag a Geo metro or a honda, Is this really nessacary or not?

Yes, hook to a tree, put your truck in N, put on park break a couple clicks, and reel it in.

then leave your rig in neutral and strap on a vehicle to the a$$ end of yours with a ebrake and set it a few clicks...will work the same way /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Yes defently stretch your winch cable! Either buy getting a metro and tie to it woth the parking brake on a couple of clicks and trag it to you while you hole the brake on your truck or by tying the cable to something and litely press on the brakes on your truck to give it SLIGHT pressure on the cable. Or if you have a hill-no too step, strap the tree and attach the cable to it and pull your truck to it like that. There are many different ways to stretch your cable but be sure to STRETCH your cable though.

    Later,
    Don
