Ok I\'ve searched, but no answer to my Problem

I know that i must have missed something somewhere, but I have a dilemma. I have a '76 Dana 44 8 lug that I am installing on the front of my'83 K-5. Without thinking or checking I have everything ready to go under and bolted up and ready to go and my tie rod ends will not fit the knuckles. I also forgot I that went ahead put the Flat-top knuckles when I get ready to do the cross-over steering.

I know that I have seen this posted somewhere that I may need to ream the hole for the GM taper tie rods. Is this correct. Can someone shed a little light on this subject.

    Thanks

If you are reusing the old ones and need to upgrade them, I just priced a Tie Rod from Auto Zone for my 'Burb at like $44, that might be cheaper than getting the reaming tool.

I'm not sure if our applications are the same, just a thought.

Might sound silly, but, did you install it the correct way?
My 88 10 bolt had the castle nuts on top, when i changed it out to a 74 d44 they had the nuts on the bottom.
    Same taper, just opposite direction.

The top hole is smaller than the bottom. i checked both ways. The knuckles are not the knuckles that came with the 44. the guy I got them from said they were chevy, but who knows. I accept his word.
