OK, So I've never 4Wheeled before...

OK, So I\'ve never 4Wheeled before...

To make a confession, I have never driven a truck in 4WD. I just bought my 84 Blazer and had to replace the manual front hubs. I spun the tires to check if the driveshaft moved and it did. Then I tried to test out the 4WD, however I started out on pavement, and in reading all the posts... that was a bad idea, Thought I had a bad axel or something.

I took it out in the soft dirt today and it took off in 4H. However it drifts really bad. Feels stiff like it wants to take off to the right or left. Is all this normal? I thought the ride would be somewhat smoother. Am I just a novice or do I have something to worry about?

    Please help,

Hey Chris, me too. Only owned mine since last Nov and have only had it in 4wd a couple of times for maybe 50 feet in a field near my house. So I take it you got those hubs on o.k.? No, you don't want to put it into 4wd on the pavement. Where'd you end up taking it? (Apparently you can go up Dobson all the way until the Salt River bed and wheel a little there. Only minutes away too.) Let me know if you want to meet up there sometime and us 2 novices can go at it. Blind leading the blind! [IMG]

Thanks Steve, maybe we can do that short trip that I sent you directions on...it's fun and a short day trip.

I am hoping that my problems are with the tires, they are old and bald, but still have that Swamper tread on the side. I am thinking that this is what is catching and causing me to "sway". Who knows??

New tires are coming in two weeks!!

What meats are you going for? I've still got my heart set on 35" BFG M/T's.

Yeah I like those too!! But I would have to buy new rims also. The tires I have now are 35x15.50's Swampers, the rims will not fit the BFG 35x12.5's. I don't think.

What size are the rims? Mine are 15x10 and they previous-owner threw 30x9.5x15's on them...

I'll ready willing and almost able! My plans are only superceeded by my wallet! [IMG] Lift is coming soon though, but $600 for tires is going to have to wait a little while. So I'll look stupid for a bit with 30's and a 4" lift. [IMG] Unless you guys have some used 35"s for me to pick up cheap? (And anyone got some 4.10's for like less than nothing?)
