Last night I put together one side of my Dana 44 ball joint on out and I was on a page in the chiltons manual that listed torque specs for upper, lower ball joints and adjusting sleeves. I can't for the life of me find that page back again and don't remember what they were. I believe the lower ball joint is 70 ft.lbs. and the adjusting sleeve is 50 ft.lbs. What is the upper ball joint stud?

I would venture to guess the upper is the same as the lower. I never use a torque wrench for anything and I've never had any problems. Just tighten the thing down securely without going nuts and I'm sure you'll be fine.

    From the 74 factory manual-
upper= 100, plus additional to align cotter, not to exceed 130
Lower- 80, plus additional to align cotter

Sounds like 100 on the upper. Thanks guys. Note: there isn't a cotter on the lower.
