    Ok I'm stumped right now, my holley TBI went out so I got a used throttle body for a really good deal and I put that one instead of fixing the holley. Well ever since I put the new TBI on I have been having a problem with a surging idle and lack of throttle response up until about 50% throttle or I am over 20 mph. The truck also appears to be running lean according to the scanner.

    So far I have rebuilt the Fuel Pressure regulator, replaced the MAP sensor and Fuel Pump. Fuel filter is less than a month old.

    You can also watch the injectors while the idle is surging and when it hits the lowest point of the surge the injector cone starts breaking up.

    Im at a loss on what to do, I have checked fuel pressure and everything is good there. Anybody have any ideas? /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

    Sounds like the injectors are clogged. Have you tried adding some fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank to clean them out? People on here recommend "Top Engine Cleaner" (p/n: 1050002 ) from the dealer.

    Check the idle air controller motor. If it is plugged up with carbon it can cause eratic idle. You can clean them with carb cleaner and a brush or get a new one there not that expensive.

    TPS is cool, voltage stays the same even when surging.

    Im leaning towards injectors too, Is it OK for me to run the top engine cleaner through the gas tank?

    Don't know, never used it. I'm guessing that it works like all the rest, just pour it in when you fill up. Pick it up at the dealer and let me know how much $$ and how well it works for you. /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

    Well, I was told not to run top engine cleaner through the gas tank because its really hard on the fuel pump. So instead I was told to run some Techron through the tank, I have about 1/2 a tank left before the tank full of techron is empty.

    After wheelin all weekend I have noticed that the truck is running a tad bit better and the idle isnt surging near as bad as before.

    The holley unit is a bad design for a stock engine, it ran rich even when i backed the fuel pressure off and it finally gave out on me when the injectors stuck open.

    Check the TB gasket and all of you lines first, then look at the intake manifold.
    That is why the computer reads lean.
