Finally got the 85 K5 I told you all about and its here at the house. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Ok got a couple of questions for you guys.

    1. The pwoer rear window goes up slow and the key switch for it does not work. Do I need to get a new motor and key switch for it, and if so how hard is it to swap out of the tail gate.

    2. The power windows go up and down very slowly also. Do I need new switches of motors for them also.

    3. The power locks will not unlock or lock. When you hit the switch you can hear them tring to lock and unlock. Is that the switch or the motor for those also?

I am thinking about changing all the switches and motors but want to try to save as much as I can so input is needed on these same problems I have.

Thanks everyone thats on this site. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

hey danny, glad to hear you finally got it home..whats the wifeys verdict on the one tons? shh...

ok here goes..try putting some dielectric grease in the connectors for all the switched and the connectors for the motors..see if that helps, also, get some window run lube or maybe use the dielectric grease to lube where the windows run.. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: Ok the 85 K5 is finally at the house

Well I just got done working on my locks and windows. I found out the my tail gate is bent about 1" out on the pass side. So thats why the window will not go all the way up without help. The key switch on the tail gate is gone also, so I need to buy a new switch for that.

I think the power lock relay is going out because it just "clicks" when I hit the power lock button. Can this happen and do I just need to get a new relay or is there more to it than that?

The driver side window works fine now but the pass side is still very tempermental. It does not always want to go all the way down or up using the driver's button or the pass button. Could the motor be going out on that side also?

Thanks for everyone's help on this board. I think this is the best board on the net. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif Thank you Steve for making this site.

it could be the motor or the switch, try cleaning the contacts in the switch to see what happens..if you knock on the door when working the switch (near where the motor rests), will the window continute down?

i meant when it stops partway down, if you knock on the door, will it go the rest of the way? if so it needs a motor..

Are you sure you have good power? Seems too coincidental that every thing seems to run slugish. Low batter charge? bad connections etc???

    Just a thought /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Well my battery gauge in the truck does not work, I need to fix it tomorrow. But the alternator charges good and the battery holds a good charge.

I will look to see if the wires for the gauge are conected or not.
