Picked up a front dana 44 eight lug axle from a early 70s k30 pickup. The locking hubs are about twice the diameter of the ones on my 10 bolt and have six big allen bolts holding them in place.
The hubs are marked Spicer. Would these be a external type?

Yes, they would be the external hubs.

    And no, it's not a K30 like you mentioned. It's a K20 instead. D44's are on K10's and 20's. D60's are on the K30's. [IMG]
