Yeah, alot of companies do not understand, but they use what they know works and are affraid of change. I had to restore a custom software application writen in Kobalt for a NexGen processor that has a specific extentions. So I had to rewrite the software for a Pentium MMX cause that was the slowest thing I could find. The guy ened up oweing me like 1500 bucks for something that is probably going to break anytime now.

    Sounds just like mine!.

My "computer" consists of nearly the same thing!--Pentium 3 processor, only 64 megs or RAM,and running Windows "ME" Millenium Edition!..its slower than a snail on qualudes....:doah:  ...it loves to crash or freeze up often too.

...it takes at least 5 minutes to get it online every time I turn it on,and I can't do SQUAT with it,as far as watching videos, online radio,etc..I really need to pull over and pick up some of the "free" computers I see on peoples front lawns on trash day--probably newer, faster, more memory, and better than this POS!...

I don't know how money is for you diesel, but if you ditch the ME and go to Xp it will make a world of difference. I didn't want to at first, but after having to reformat and reload all my programs once a month to fix it, it was worth every penny.

no way in hell i'd run XP on a machine that slow. and ME isnt much better..... put 98 on it, it will make a world of a difference. ME is complete garbage, i wouldn't put it on anything. if its a slow machine: 98 or 2000, or better yet, Linux.

I run Win XP on an old P2 CPi noteboox. It works great.
All you need to run XP is more RAM (128 minimum) or more. And a 300Mhz minimum Processor.
Just max out your RAM and it will run fine you can get ram for old machines cheap on Ebay.
My old P2 has a 366 processor and 266Mbs ram. 6 gig HD It is not slow. Never has froze up unless I ask too much of it. It does everything I ask it to do. Use it mostly for internet and Pic editing.

XP won't run on it. Find a copy of Win98SE. I still run that on my 200mhz garage computer. Works ghetto fabulous!
