    Hadn't even eaten lunch yet..

Heres what we found on arrival
    [IMG]

We're getting it knocked down in the apart.

As usual, with this complex, it's spreading to the attic fast
    [IMG]

Attic aquired, but we stay inside a while longer to give it a what-for until other units set up for defensive ops

Mopping up (me far left after giving up the nozzle for a while)

How much time did it take to spead through the whole attic? I'm guessing once it hit that space it moved quick.

Thanks guys, but I'm just another spoke in the wheel that keeps the ol country turnin'... nuttin' special.

Very quick. In fact we were pretty much ready to start picking up (getting done) after about only 40 minutes on scene. Within the first few minutes it had taken the attic.

Yes, we fought one just like this last August in the same complex. I do not know why, but for some reason fires in this complex get into the attic in record time. We NOW know that for fact. Last time it was already in the attic on arrival. This time we thought we could knock it down before it had a chance. No way.. it leapfrogged into before we knew it. Later, we still see no reason for it to do it. It isn't a balloon frame construction (studs that go from foundation to attic with no fire breaks) so ther has to be something unique to this building.. but we have not seen/found it yet. So, we will just have to handle it as best we can next time, if there is one.

In the pic with the buttload of fire, we were still in the top floor apt, and I can tell you it was freakin' boiling in there. I could barely see my flashlight, even when I pointed into the lense of my facemask. :eek1: Later, we were forced out onto the breezeway, and at times it was almost as bad out there, and that was "outside" so to speak. I now have that slight sunburn feel on th eback of my neck ... :p:

Anyway, it was a little more fire than I like to fight on an empty stomach, but oh well. That's why I work at this station, lots of action. I guess I can always go to one out in the suburbs when I start feeling old. :thumb:

Thanks everyone, but it's really no biggy.. I wouldn't do anything else. ;)

Also, as a side note. The reason I have the pics is becuase one of the guys I work with, ponied up and bought a second digi cam to carry with us to take pics of some of the bizzare things we come across. Maybe I'll be posting more "On the job with me" posts. But, after seeing all sorts of crap, I'm likely to not post something that I find to much of a bore, although most might think it's cool. Anyway, I'll see what heppens etc.

I was going to post some pics last shift, of a bad wreck we went to, but seeing as how there was an on scene fatality, I thought it would be tacky. (even though he sort of chose his day to die, as a result of his own road rage)
