It's going to be awhile befor I can afford my 38's. Anyways, I really want to get my axle swap done. I could buy some used tires on 8 lug rims for a couple hundred bucks from a guy down the street from me. The tires are only 33's, so I'd still have the tiny tiry syndrom going on, but I'd be able too get my 3/4 ton axles under the K5. Should I do that, or just wait till next spring when I'll be able to afford the 38's ????

There isn't anything wrong with tiny tires as long as you have the 3/4 ton (we notice when money was put where it belongs first /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif ). I say get the 33's on 8 lug wheels and opt for the 3/4 ton axles then save for the 38's. At least when you go up to 38's your truck will be ready for them and you will be able to test them out as soon as they are on.

I've had a set of 3/4 ton axles sitting waiting to be installed sence Christmas. I've got a shackle flip and new rear springs combo also. I've been getting antsy to start turning a few wrenches.

Nieghbor had (4) 33's mud tires not sure of name brand on some fancy 8 lug rims. Might be able to get him talked down to $100.00 or so.

i'd put tne 3/4 axles in and get the 33's . then you work out any bugs in the axle swap. then when you put on the 38's your ready totear it up. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

Im always a supporter of upgrading axles before you do anything else to a rig... its just the 1st step IMO. I mean, the guy with the 31" tires and a D60+ff14b combo is a heck of a lot closer to having a capable offroad rig than the guy with dual stock 10 bolts and a set of 38" tires layin in his garage... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

He'll have a kickass tow rig, but be dragging on every rock on the trail.

who says he needs to wheel it right away? at least with the 33's they will be a little better than what hes got now..and he can drive it. im going to be doing 33's and a 4inch with 3/4 axls..(eventually a 60 up front when the time comes)

33s & a FF14B is worse than 31s & a 12B, IMO. Noone said he HAD to do anything, ask for opinions and people give them.

[/ QUOTE ] Aslong as I can drive it on the streets/back roads, I can wait too off road till I get the 38's.

Gotta wait for my niegbor to get back from vacation. He took his family to a Europe. Should be back in about 2 or 3 weeks. I'll talk to him when he gets back. Well, gotta see how worn out his is, they took 3 young children with them. 2,3, and 5 years of age. I can almost imagine how that would be. /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif /forums/images/graemlins/eek.gif
