    Opinions needed on a \'91K5

I just found a 91Blazer that's pretty much stock.. The owner said that it's never been offroad and it doesn't look as if it has.. I test drove it and it runs great, has plenty power and the trans shifts smooth. It's black and the paint is pretty decent, has power everything, looked for rust and didn't find any and also no stress cracks by the streering box. The interior could use some work, but nothing major. Here is what I kind of didn't like it had 199,000 of what he called "highway miles." He's asking $4,650 for it..

What do you guys think of this price for the K5?

If you like it go for it! I am sureIf you make a reasonable offer and stand firm on it he will take the offer. Just take it down like $100 or $200. If he does that "well If I dont get a better offer by... " crap cut him of and say take it now or don't call me back. Thats what I with the '84 and I got the price down a $100. Try to point out what is wrong with it to him, hopefully he wont know what the hell your talking about orhow much it would really cost to replace it. [IMG]

I have 210k miles on mine: 1 tranny, 1 radiator, a shitload of alternators, a few water pumps, and now 1 Ton running gear! Love my truck!!!

The engine is maybe a little tired but wasn't super strong in any of these trucks anyway. Still not burning any oil which is good.

That may be on the high side but it is worth it if it is clean and no rust IMO.

If you want to look for rust, check the top of the truck (roof not galvanized) and the area behind the seats in front of the hump (check under carpet and insulation).

i was able to talk the man i bought my 83 from down $1000 bucks. His price was a little high and but he had just spent 1200 having a rebuilt 350 dropped in place of the old 305. He had also dumped the 700r4 for a th350 which was a blessing for me because of the th350 reliability. I think you should be able to talk him down more than 200 bucks. I would hit him for 700- 750 less than the asking price and see if he bites. If not let him ponder your offer. with the price he is asking, i would say not too many people are going to look at it. he may get desperate and give you a call accepting your offer. Remember that there will be many other Blazer/Jimmy's to grace the ads of your classifieds so dont jump on the first one you see. Good Luck!

I say, at that point, if you were looking a t a truck with 150k or 210k just about the same things need to be replaced or already have been replaced.

I have 188,000 on my 91K5. Had to have transmission rebuilt at 160,000. Other than that no problems. (Just keep the oil changed, full of water and run the gas as low as you want. Just don't run out!) Advice from my father when I started to drive back in the 50's. Still works.

Ric.. that's about right.. the truck is definately worth the money..
Highway miles sounds about correct.. I have just about 100,000 miles on my 89.. and this truck has never seen off road .. at least not yet..
I'm going to move everything from underneath my 83 and put it under the 89.
I want to beef this one up and sell my 83.. Can't beat the fuel injection and the most awesome front clip's of these trucks.

Thanks for the info everyone... first of all this K5 is what my nephew is looking into purchasing. The price seems to be about right for the K5, but I told him to haggle a little and not to give in so quickly... something like $4000 is what I would pay.

rocko, that's exactly what I would do if I were to buy it... swap my one tons from bowtie to the '91. Can't go wrong with that front clip and fuel injection...

I paid a grand for my 74 and the whole roof comes off. I much rather fix up a first or second gen than spend 4Gs on a third gen. You ask for opinions, that's mine.

    Charles,
The last thing he told me was that he was going to offer the owner $4000 and go from there.
