I just replaced My wheel and spindle bearings and the place I get parts from did'nt carry Timkin so I went with Federal mogul,What is your opinion on top brands?
also I noticed the needle bearings were spaced apart with a metal band unlike the torringtons taken out, they were in side by side touching each other, which is better?
one More, the inner wheel bearings taken out were #387A the ones my distributer sold me were 387AS,whats the diffirence?

I always thought Federal Mogul was better.

Does the S stand for Sealed??

On our light trucks, anything will be overkill in the D60 :)

the bearings measure the same, look the same but the 387AS
bearing cage has a smoother finish.

as long as the bearing and race both say MADE in the U.S.A. then you should be fine. That crap that China makes or any other place is not to spec and they will fail in time!

Both Timkin and Federal Mogul have worked well for me (and I have heard good things about both), so you should be good to go there, but I have no clue about the added "s" on the end of the part number. Hopefully somebody on this board will know. If Lara sees this, maybe she can ask Nick if he knows (they should be listed in the Napa book for cross referencing).
