ORD\'s new alum doubler spy pics

Was at ORD's yesterday getting my new shinny "car show" doubler dialed in, can't wait to get it installed now.

The block on the right is what the doubler starts life as, the one on the left is the finished version of course.

    All ready to install.

The 205 is clocked 2" to lay flat and to ease crossmember construction.

The 203 with doubler adapter is 92 pounds, the 205 was 130 pounds, the 400 to 203 adapter is prolly 4 or 5 pounds, these were dry weights of course.
So 227 pounds for everything, maybe 240 with oil.

    /forums/images/icons/cool.gif COOL!!! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

So now the Gen. II is getting changed from steel adaptor to aluminum. That adaptor looks bad a$$ed!! /forums/images/icons/cool.gif

Do you know if the price for the Doubler is changing or not compared to the old style metal?

I think it is the same, but Stephen would be the one to ask for sure.

Why isn't it polished so it will look pretty underneath?

Notice the doubler is painted red. Problem is that red paint does not make it Butch. HEHE /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Damn, that looks bad ass! I didn't weigh mine with the steel one. Do you know how much weight it saves? I'm cool with the steel though /forums/images/icons/smile.gif

Any issues with the aluminum vs. steel? I would assume you still need the double crossmember setup as opposed to the single crossmember for the steel type adaptors. Give me your thoughts. Looks nice - quality work. One more thing, what happened to the steel Doubler kit you had? Make a trade-in?

The alum is very strong, when I do the review I will get all the engineer type numbers from Stephen, Yeah, Stephen wanted the steel one back in exchange for the alum.

So, is that your doubler on the bench? When is the big install? Probably soon I would guess since you dont want to waste money rebuilding a shaft! Looks great man, keep us posted. So, which tires did you agree on? If I had some beefier axles, I would probably go with the 42's.

Re: ORD\'s new alum doubler spy pics

Yeah, that was mine, I am thinking about grinding the shift rails and maybe removing the 205 breather tube and installing one at a 90 degree angle so it will not point toward the floor, just want to do all this one time. I am thinking 39.5's right now, maybe down the line 42's, to many mods for 42's and I don't have that kind of time.

Let us know if you run into any driveshaft angle problems in the front. Also, since I clocked my NP203 upside down, I will have to "clearance" my floorboards. Probably will make a nice big "hump" to mount the center console to. Now I have an armrest!!!
