All these years I've been curious about the name Chevrolet and the Bow Tie insignia.
Where did the name Chevrolet and the Blue insignia come from and what do they mean?
    Does anyone know?

louis chevrolet was the founder of the company (by the way, he quit the company rather than quit smoking)
the bow tie represents chevys crushing all other vehicles, the dorky drivers of which probably wear bowties on their skinny little pencil necks.

CaptKaos is right. It came from a piece of wall paper in a Paris, France hotel room where Louis was staying. Read it somewhere!

I knew that if I joined this forum I would learn more about Chevys than anywhere else. I wonder who the Jimmy was named after? I'd like to think it's Jimmy Buffet. That's the lifestyle I'd like to aspire to. But in reality, it's most likely a nickname for GM (General Motors).
