Does anyone know if the factory ones were stainless steel or chrome? Saw the ones in the LMC catalog and was not sure which ones I had. It looks like I have chrome to me. Seems too shiny to be stainless steel. Does anyone know the original part numbers for those? I would like to see how much gmpartsdirect.com sells them for. Thanks.

The original ones that I have are all stainless but that may have been an option. I do know that it is hard to find the exact originals. All the after market ones I have seen that say OEM replacement have a rubber gasket around the glass (which makes it hard to squee-gee them clean), the originals don't.

You sure they are even metal? The ones on the wifes 79 are chromed plastic. Till you start tapping on them you would swear they were metal.
The factory either put on painted steel or polished stainless steel depending on the options.

It's not my damn planet monkey boy!

The stock mirrors were either painted or stainless steel, and I don't think there was a rubber gasket around the glass (there's one to the door). If I remember correctly GM doesn't make those mirrors any more. There are plenty of aftermarket versions of these mirrors available and they work and look just as good, for less dough.

Why do people keep calling it a Bronco!!!!! [IMG]
