Hey guys, I'm getting ready to buy the Universal Crate 350 from Pace Parts. I was wondering what I can swap from my 305 and what I'm gonna have to buy. Has anyone gotten a motor from them?? Thanks...Ryan

They come with everything except a harmonic damper, a timing tab, water pump, distributor, and intake. You'll need to buy the balancer and tab, but your existing intake, distributor, and water pump should go on with no problem.

    Clean up on aisle 3!!

I read in a previous post that the flywheel from my 305 won't work in a 350...is that true??

It's the little bracket that you point the timing light at to set timing. Right near the harm. balancer.

Just bought a crate universal 350 and they do come with two timing tabs, one for a 6" and on for a 8" harmonic.

One word of caution, they will come stamped "Hecho en Mexico"

Well I didn't buy a crate motor from pace parts but my dad shopped around and found a better deal than pace parts www.goautocenter.com he bought the 350HO 330HP and we put it in his '82 s-10 pro street and it it's a sweet engine but it has the vortec heads so it takes a different intake. Anyway what years does the universal 350 claim to fit? There are at least 3 bolt patterns where the flywheel bolts to the crank. Ask the sales people at pace parts and they should have all that info on hand.

Pace Parts is 5 minutes down the road from me here in Ohio...I would give them a shout on the 800 number about the Mexico thing. They are supposed to be the biggest shipper of performance motors in the country and I believe they will beat any valid price. Distance irrelevant, I'd go with Pace.

The block and heads are cast in Mexico - all GM's foundry work has been down south for quite a few years.

    Clean up on aisle 3!!
