I'm excited that my new paint job is almost ready. I'm not sure if anyone else cares, but here's what she looks like 80% of the way through paint prep. I had a few rust spots and dents repaired and the driver's door straightened. I'm also having all the emblems and trim discarded and the holes welded up. This is the first time I've ever had the top off.

I think he plans to get the doorjambs done this week so they can cure over the weekend, then he'll mask and paint everything else next week. So, about two more weeks yet.

I think he sorta does this kind of work on the side and insurance jobs are the bread and butter. I'm happy to let him take his time and do a good job.

    Yellow. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Don't hate me, but I went with the yellow they use on TJ Wranglers, "Solar Yellow". /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif I was considering the yellow they use on Avalanche's, but I couldn't find one in a lot anywhere to get a good look.

    Lookin' good.

You are going to remove the gutters, door glass, handles, and lock cylinders right? You can avoid the paint line around the front lace by heating it up and putting clothesline cable under it to lift it up. This way the paint line is underneath the lace...

Heck, pretty soon you could have the doors off and the front clip off and do a complete color change!

Some of us get a little nuts when we paint stuff...

Yeah, the only thing we might leave is the tailgate key/motor assembly due to the labor involved in getting it off. He seemed confident that he could prep around it.

/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Yeah, I will still have a little white, but only under the hood and on the bottom of the dash. I can do those later if I really feel the need.

Here are a few more pics from today. He's got most of the prep done now and is priming. Also de-texturized the topper for paint. Should have the top, hood, and cowl painted within the next few days. It's taking a while, but I'm letting him take his time.

That really looks great. Filling the emblems was a nice clean mod.
