I'm wanting to paint my stock rally wheels black. I was thinking about sand blasting them with the old tires on and the weights taken off then primering and painting them with the old tires on then driving it to the tire shop to get them changed. Anyone tried this, does it tear up the valve stem or anything else I should consider?
    Thanks

Why do it with the tires on? That would take care of the valve-stem problem because you could cut it out.

Because I need to drive it up to the tire shop to get the new tires put on. My other truck is temporarily out of service.

Shouldn't hurt the stems unless they keep thr blaster on them long enough to burn up the rubber.I would suggest that you at least primer them quickly as they will rust fast after blasting them. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Hi Neighbor. Thanks. I'm wanting to go to black wheels with the chrome rings. I already blasted and painted the caps black. I replaced the cap bolts with Stainless steel bolts and put on new studs and lugs. We'll see how it looks when I'm done. (Poor man's new Wheels)
