I've got a problem. My buddy hooked up a new cd player in my truck. Soon after, when I turn my key forward my parking lights come on. My alarm is around 6 years old. A friend of mine told me that my alarm is gong out. Before I buy a new one, I wanted to know if anyone of you has ran into this problem.

sounds like when they put the cd player in they crosed a wire with your parking lights try tracing out the wires and see if you can find it

Sounds to me like your buddy spliced your power antenna lead into your parking lights. The alarm shouldn't have anything to do with it.

If it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all[IMG]

Haha Get your buddy to come fix the wires. The factory radio harness has a wire to hook the lights on the factory stereo to the dash lights and he got power on the wire some how. My guess is he's trying to use it as ground. I think the wire is Brown. If he has it on the Antenna or the Amp trigger wire he can fry the circuit in the radio because the lights are too much draw for the stereo to handle.

It's not my damn planet monkey boy!

    Yepp!
    Grims nailed it !!

Did that exact stupid thing myself, the parking lights wire(interiour light circut) will test a ground when your sitting there in the heat of the Cd-player instalation, the test light grounds in the light bulbs making it look like a good ground wire, but when you try to start it, it will blow a fuse or light upp the park's as in your case..(mine blew fuses, wonder why yours arn't doing that?)

Just change the ground over to the chassie and you'l be fine.

I just re read what I wrote and it makes no sence what so ever. It's always fun to play with electisity though[IMG]

At least I figured it out, Mine also had automatic headlights. In Europe we drive with lights on all day, year round, so they light upp after the car has started by themself..

Sounds like your buddy wired the stock light dim wire into your ignition wire. I think they're similar in color, It's a common mistake.
