    What do all these mean? They are Memory for computers, listed on ebay.

    * DDR
    * EDO
    * FPM
    * RAM
    * RDRAM
    * SDRAM

    And which is better?

    The only one I know for certain is RAM = Random Access Memory.
    All the other types you listed are variants on the same basic theme.

    DDR - Double Data Rate(PC2100,2700,3200 etc)
    EDO-Extended Data Out( found in 30 or 72 pin simms(single inline memory modules)) -old
    RDRAM- Is also known as rambus or rimm(on intel boards only mostly proprietary)- crap and expensive
    SDRAM - also known as SDR single data rate Older(PC66,100,133)
    RAM- Random Acess memory

    thats all I can remember right now

    Edit: It depends on what system your running. For AMD 64's and the like DDR is better, because of the hypertransport feature

    For Intel boards they are using DDR2 which is supposed to be faster then DDR but the performance gains over DDR is very small due to the architecture of the chip

    Also you left off DDR2. New verison of the Double Data Rate, so for used only by Intel.

    If youre buying a new computer, get DDR or DDR2 and more is better.

    I think FPM may mean Floating Point Memory, but I'm probably wrong. It's been a long time since I tore into a computer's guts, so I probably need to take a new class on all it.
