Does your rear window... if you are outside in back of the Blazer standing there... if you put your key in the lock, will it roll down? Mine won't... I can only get it to roll up if it's down with the key. I hate this. Is this normal or is mine acting weird? Thanks [IMG]

Yours is acting weird. Mine has done that a few times. You have to basically take the switch apart and clean the contacts. The only way to get to the switch is by taking the cover off the inside of the tailgate and removing the 2 nuts that hold the swith in. then take the switch apart clean contacts, and put it back together. While your in there lube up all the rollers too. Good luck

I've been needing to do this for a long time, mine doesn't work at all using the key. Hopefully just cleaning it up will work....

I have an 85 for a good 4 years and my back window has never rolled down by the key. I just got used to it. I got bigger things to fix and modify.

My 85 and my Granddad's 84 are both screwed up - Mine won't roll up with the key, his won't roll down. The switch is a sufficient enough pain to get to, we just leave them that way and use the dash switch.

My 90 Jimmy came with 4 keys; Ignition, doorlocks, rearglass, and console. What a pain.

Espen, do you have to remove the regulator to access the nuts that hold the switch in?

Yes the regulator has to go first, it goes out in one piece. It's nothing to worry about though. 3-4 bolts that screw into the tailgatewalls and it's out. First you slide the window upp all the way and rest it on something so it doesn't hang there by it'self. then go at the regulator... Fast and easy. The new keyswitch from Gm came with a new key, so I just switched over the insides of the new one to the old one, and kept the original lockcyllinder.

Take a look at the pictures, and give it a go. It's all "easy tractor-technology"

Thanks for the info, I guess I'll give it a try. I have to take the tint off the window and redo it anyway.
