    People with 86\'s...

Are you having a problem with your fuel pump going out EVERY year?? Our 86 Suburban had that problem. Also, notice that you don't ever see a replacement enging for 86? It was an in-between year for the engines. They year before F.I., self-aligning rocker arms and roller camshafts, the first year for a one piece rear seal, the last year of mechanical fuel pumps. That's why it's hard to find because there is a specific engine JUST for 86's. I just wanted to see if anyone had the fuel pump problem to make sure if we were alone on it or not...

No fuel pump problems. I have only replaced it once and that was with a delco pump. As for a replacement motor just put a 85 and older motor in it thats what I did when the 305 in my 86 went bye bye.

I had a problem with an 88 fullsize van.. The pump went uout a few times one year and I had the same shop replace it each time. The last time they did it, they found that the wiring harness was eiither wron or had poor contact to the pump.. The replaced the harness to the pump and it was fine.

Never had a problem with the pump... when I threw a rod I called up Napa and got a new engine no problems either....
