ok guys, even thought the mags lay the cheese on pretty thick sometimes, i still support their decision. and what else out of that pack are you going to wheel? the jeep? the excursion?

hey rips the body molding off the lexus, weld the diffs, slap on 31 inch swampers and GO! /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

i would wheel that. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

i know what you guys are saying and i understand. but if they say it's the best than i trust em. have you guys driven any of the other vehicles? i havent.

Dude, I hope your kidding... You trust their decision that a LEXUS is 4x4 of the year? The mags do come up with some decent articles sometimes, but the majority of them these days aren't worth the money. Just my opinion... /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

I didnt think to much about that one either. Next they will be doing a buildup on one. /forums/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif

They seem to be refocusing what audience they are going after.

Don't get your pantys in a wad the best 4x4 of the year was the K-5 from 69-91 no one will ever beat that record. So let the little old Lexus have one shot. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: Peterson\'s 4X4 of the Year

In that test I would have chosen the H2 hands-down.

Where was the Grand Cherokee? I plan on that as my daily driver soon. And it was last years 4x4OTY. I bet Jeep didn't allow it cuz they want the focus on the Wrangler.

Peterson's article was something you would expect from MotorTrend. They knocked down the Jeep for road noise because it came with a softtop! Give me a break. /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif /forums/images/graemlins/1zhelp.gif

Well now thats different! /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif In a way, I like it though. I would have started with a different vehicle but it looks like he's done good things to it.

Nah, they were right with the Rubicon about the engine feeling like crap. The guy that works at the local dealership said he drove one and it doesn't feel like a 4.0L. Might have to do something with those 4.10's and only 31's.

Jeep must not have paid them for this year. It seems like all the past years have been the grand cheroke[sp?].

I no longer have a subscription, more info on this site every day than they print in a month.

Re: Peterson\'s 4X4 of the Year

This is just an indicator that the magazine is crap. That was my last issue - subscription no more.
They went on and on about the cushiness. Cush is an important factor for a lot of people, but not so for 4x4s.
If a vehicle has IFS and wins a 4x4 contest, then the 4x4 contest is based too much on BS and not enough on.....are ya ready for this....4x4.
The jeep or the superduty or damn it anything but a Lexus GX470should have won.
This is a mockery of a 4x4 contest.

What do you guys think made the editors choose the Lexus - vote here:

And for the record, I think the idiots would have picked a 2wd Avalanche if it only cost $50,000 more.
