This is something I've heard... PHX is on my list of places I'd like to possibly live someday.. My Mom was saying she had some friends move out here from that area and they were saying snakes are becoming a big problem..??...

I know there are quite a few on here from that area and was just wondering what the concensous is and if this were true?

Well, we have snakes, but i haven't heard anything about being overrun by them,,,they are here and there, they are probably being stirred up by all the destruction,,,,errr, i mean construction going on around here,,,WAAAAAY too much of that going on.

The only real snakes i see on a daily basis out here, usually drive Ford Crown Vics, and have badges tacked on their chests:p:

    Let me guess, MCSO????????????????????????????????

Just this past weekend, we had a girl come to the front door of my department, a semi-large bull snake had wondered into her front yard, about a block away from the office. Of course, since it was in town, I couldn't utilize our unwritten policy about animals such as these, so I had to call for animal control to come out. By the time I got in my car and drove the block down to the house (don't say I'm lazy, I was just bringing along what we rural SO types call our "animal control devices"), some guy had 10-7'ed the snake with a shovel......................

I hate snakes with a passion. I catch one within striking distance of a Goodyear, that SOB is dead. I don't care what breed it is, the SOB might as well call the law (oh wait, I'm already there) cause I dispatched the bastards with extreme prejudice. The whole stinking species is evil. They have the blackest of hearts and there is no good coming from them. If God himself came out of the Heavens right now and eliminated the species from the Planet Earth, I would throw the biggest party in the universe celebrating their demise.........................

Well, I don't know if you keep up with the PBB stuff, but there's a local on there that rants and raves about how bad MCSO is and how sinister Sheriff Arapaio is. I think he has a point, albeit very shaky at times cause we all know that there are bad agencies out there and Sheriff Arapaio is a politician, I just think he goes overboard at times with the ranting. Being on the inside it's easy to dismiss a lot of the hype since a lot of it is explainable and there's always people out there that have a major King Kong league hard on for their police agencies, but sometimes you just have to wonder.....................:D

I know about the rep he has but I spent my day in jail after flipping my Grandaddy's truck bout five times on the freeway. Yes apparently I was way innebriated.

That one day eating bolonga sandwiches every meal with ketchup only and whatever else it was, was enough for me to never, ever want to go back.

Call me a wimp if'n ya want.

Thanks Mr. Bubba Sir. I tend to agree.

Oh and I haven't ever seen a live snake except for red racers in the Valley and I've lived here my entire life. Course I've only lived in Central Phx. so I don't know the outying regions are dealing with. Don't think they should get pissed off at the snakes and coyotes and lions and what not all else.

    They were here first!!!

I don't mind the coyotes and lions, in fact around here we're sort of expected to help the ranchers out (I don't cause it kind of goes against some beliefs), but snakes though, they are worse than Bill Clinton with a Democratic Congress.................

Ya, I hate snakes. Dont even care to look at them on tv, but I am getting better at that... It's not like I am moving there tomorrow... But I thought i would check.

Lions and such aren't bad and I would rather see one of them...

I visited some friends in Mesa in '95. We were out rollerblading at night and never saw one. BUt we were more in town in Mesa... Thats such a nice area!

Yeah Mesa is allright . I am a little farther out towards Apache Junction in Mesa ( actually county Island surrounded by Mesa ) . Its nice .

I do get to see an occasional coyote running around . Plenty of quail actually live in my neighborhood and we get to see those :thumb:

are you guys joking?????:haha: :haha: you would rather see a lion running around wild more than you would want to see a snake. OMG. Seriously snakes arent that bad, they take care of varmits, and are pretty harmless unless you come into there territory or disturb them around there nesting ground. I will admit that they do pop up in some strange places, but they can just as easily be captured and set free elsewhere. I myself do not practice the whole catch a release thing myself. I like to catch them and eat em. Especially rattlers, mmmmm mmmm mmmmm just skin them, dip in a little fish fry or corn meal with some Tony's mixed in, now thats good eating. Man you guys are making me hungry. I dont know, I guess its just one of those phobia's that some people have. Whos up for a trip to the rattlesnake roundup in Sweetwater, Tx they have every year????????????? Its starting to sound pretty good to me already.

The Indians bought Rawhide , and moved it next to the Casino south of Phoenix last year .

And in all my wheeling trips , I haven't so much as seen a snake . We saw as tarantula though :though:

LOL. I hear PHX is getting over populated. But so is just about everywhere...

I'm trying to think of the peoples name we stayed with in AZ. They were cousins of an ex-g/f.... Hmmmmm......
