Here is a small video of a couple of launches and one landing. Anybody who has been up there before can tell you these videos don't do justice to how intense it is up on the flight deck.

Thanks Branndon for hosting and editing.

Hell, I'd have given my left nut for a coffin rack on the boat! All we got was a single locker, about 12" square and about 18" deep. That's it.

Whidbey is where my bro was for a few years. He recently moved to Va Beach.

That video was awesome, especially the landing! :D

My older brother was on the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (aircraft carrier) back in 1993-1998 I went on a few Tiger Cruises with him out in the ocean for a few hours and I thought it was awesome, I couldn't sleep in one of the bunks honestly too close for my comfort, but the sound of a jet taking off is awesome (loud but awesome) I will see if I can find some pictures he sent me back in the day and post em up.

Those would be the "arresting gear engines".
Last time I was on the boat (LHA-4), my berthing area was right under the flight deck, directly under the centerline "runway" for the Harriers. Harriers are loud...

Somewhere I have a picture of a sub that didn't an emergency blow near the carrier. It was to put on a show for some VIP that came onboard.

    No more Tomcats?

I don't miss the ship, but I sure do miss the guys I worked with and the port calls. :D
