pic\'s of small electrical fire

Had a small electrical fire in my 71 Blazer.electrical fires suck!
Went out of town on vacation and disconnected the batteries as everyone knows how easy our trucks are to steal.Anyway the city decided to pave the road my truck was on and I either had to move it or get it towed.Got a co-worker to reconnect the batteries and move it.Well he only reconnected one of the 2 batteries and when the 1st battery was connected it power went through the Hellroaring battery isolater and to the 2nd battery cable. The problem was that the 2nd battery cable got grounded to the chassis of the truck.Anyway...a fire followed.Luckly it was contained to just the isolater and the battery cable.Hit the link to check out the picks.

Sorry dude, that sucks....looks like you had put some real "beefy" wiring in there too.

When you re-do the wiring, any chance you'll figure out a way to incorporate a fuse into that setup? It would be tragic to lose the whole Blazer to an engine fire....

Was it original for the first generations to have the starter solinoid on the fenders? Mine is currently on the starter now. The one on my Jeep always went out until I put a 350 in it with a Powermaster starter. Solved that damn problem!
I'm rewiring mine using M&H Engineering.

No the solenoid should be on the starter but MANY Chevy guys go with a fender mount solenoid to help with hot start condition.

Well I just have to say that Hellroaring Industies(the maker of my burnt battery isolater)is one class outfit!!
I e-mailed them and told them what happened to my isolater and if there was anything they could do for me(I figured what the hell,I'd give it a try).Anyway, latter that day I get a e-mail from them saying how sorry they were for me and that I could have another Isolater from them for 60% off the orig. price.Cool!!
If anyone needs a battery isolater that does alot more than just isolate batteries check out Hellroaring,They're one class act! http://www.hellroaring.com/
