Well, some friends and I went out to the ORV park today. I took the big Crew Cab, my friend Dillon drove out in his stock height Chevy Luv, my friend Nick and his wife Lacey and son Kody came out in their '92 Extended cab, Dave and his sons came out in his Suburban and an S-10 Blazer.

I broke a tie rod end, on a large ledge nearing the top of a fairly steep hill, but we were able to repair it there.

    Here are the pics

Yeah, I had a pair of my 39.5x18 Boggers on the back and some 40x17 Ground Hawg look-a-likes on the front (they stand just about exactly the same height). Dave was running my other two boggers on the back of his Suburban.

Unfortunately, we havent had any decent rain for weeks, so it was all mostly dry and loose sand, except for that 10" hard ledge. The first time up the hill I climbed right up. The second time I bounced the front tires over the ledge (snapping the tie-rod end) and my rear tires dug into the sand. I didnt know it at the time that my front right tire was doing its own steering (though it did feel strange) and my rear driveline was scraping on the ledge (hanging up the rear diff. from proceeding foreward).

Thanks to Dave's sons Matt and Luke coming out in the S-10 and bringing spare tie rod parts and tools, we were able to replace the end and go play for a couple more hours.

No one else broke anything except for a flat tire on the Luv and some fender damage on Dave's Suburban (due to some airborne time and articulation).

One last addition...today (Sunday) after yesterday's wheeling, my friend Nick was driving and his rear ring and pinion gave out. I guess that 38" Swampers and a 10 bolt rear shouldnt go together for too long.
