pics of trucks with 4\" lifts and 37\" or bigger tires

I need to go with bigger tires on my burb. I am still trying to figure what to go with. I have 4.56 gears and 35s. Its great since I have od, but I cant tow in od, and since I am at 2500 rpms at 70 mph in od I need to do something. I am thinking 38s. I mostly tow my boat (under 3000 lbs with trailer) or my rail ( under 2500 lbs with trailer), but once in a while my firebird ( about 5000 with trailer). I can always switch to 35s when towing the bird I guess. Any help is greatful. Pics will help me see how it looks to, or if I should lift it higher.

I'll try and get some pis of my '78 with the current 39" tires for ya.I used to have 38's,then I trimmed some more for the 39's.Without an body lift, you will have to trim the front fenders all the way back to the firewall.I still have the 38's(16/38x16.5" Dick Cepek Fun Countrys) if you want to come over and try one on.Mike

that's my POS on 5-6" of lift. 39.5's that stuffed but didn't rub. I cut everything. nothing left except the fender bolt. ORD front shackles helped move it forward a bit so that rubbing will never be an issue till i get my 42's.

i saw SAVAGE1's rig on 42's and they are a tad on the big side, but they work well.

IMHO, 39.5's are the best all around tire. 40's a still highway freindly, can still get a set for less than a grand, and offers lot of rubber to motor over stuff.

I decided awhile ago that i'm going to stick with the 39.5's unless i get a smokin' deal on some 42's like Rod did.

/forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif I wouldn't be running these if I didn't get them so cheap ($200). I'm running about 6.5" lift, I recently cut more than what is shown here.

I guess the next question is which tires are good for towing. I was thinking the 38.5x14.50/15 Sxs would work good. If anybody knows of anything better let me know.

from what I understand the more ply's the better for towing---if thats the case then i belive the sx's only have a 6 ply tire---however the regular TSL's and TSL radials and SSR's have both a 6 and 10ply tire around that big.

4" Tuff country EZ rides and 13/38/16 TSL Haven't had her out yet, but no rubbing is predicted.

i wouldn't tow with the SX's. they are a rough tire and have problems balancing. if i were towing with my trail rig, it would be with some radials.

Well the only radials that are 38s are 15.50" wide, and arent really tall enough since true height is only like 37". Anyone tow with Sxs of regular Tsls?

My rig has the 38.5" SX Swampers and I tow with it all the time.Havent had any problems with balancing. They tow fine on my rig.I also have 7" of lift with a little fender trimming. Im going to 39.5" next and will have to trim a little more.

It's not quite the same as these others, but I'm running 44's with 8" of lift. I cut the fenders pretty good. I love my "low" stance.
