I want to put an 88-91 Sealed beam grill on my 84 sealed beam front end K5. Anyone have pictures of the grill I mean? I see vans with them all the time but only seen one k5 with it locally and can't say I've ever seen a picture. I really want to do this but I don't think I will be able to locate one. Anyone think I will be able to modify a van grill to work out?

Uhm. 88 up to the middle of 90 (IFS) had four single headlights. After that they had composite ones. I've seen people put composite headlights in place of the four single ones.

Our vehicles had four rectangle small sealed beams from 89 to 91. The only other headlight package I'm aware of was the "cheap" single headlight setup.

I guess I don't know what you're talking about. I've never seen what you're talking about on any vehicle of ours.

Yes I mistakenly put 88 I mean 89. SOrry about that I see it now. I mean the "cheap" single headlamp. I have the older cheap style and want to replace it with the newer one. Like I said i have only seen one K5 with this grill and like 1 Burban so around here is a different thing to do. Besides my chrome crap around the grille I have looks like trash casue its all broken and falling off and popping off all over the blazer. I think the plastic that replaces it will look a lot better when I paint it black in contrast to what I have now. I will have before and after pictures in a few months when I really get the project under way. I think I may go pick up my back axle today.

A lot of non-silverado crewcabs came with the single headlight.

I do believe you'll need to replace your core support to go from the oldschool single headlight to the new single headlight. I'm not 100% certain though.

It is called composite when there are two headlights in one. IE: the lens is shared by both highbeams and lowbeams.

Yes thank you thats what I was looking for. See thats what I want to do, paint mine black for contrast on my big red k5. Hmm when I get the grill I will see about what I need to do to make it work. Core support wouldn't upset me, mines a little tweaked tahnks to the previous owner and myself.

No prob. I painted mine up about 2 years ago. I like the way it looks personally. Took about 3 days of running around iwth no grille, but was easy.

As for swapping it over, LMC has virtually all the parts you need too.

wrong one but thanks anyawy sub. I have the single headlight setup and I want to stick to it. Its different and hopefully won't be difficult, no rewiring as well. I can wire but schematics always mess with my head.

wiring is simple, you get the pigtails at any autoparts store, cut off the factory wires behind the plug.there is a power wire for the dim light, one for the bright light and a ground.splice them to the new pigtails, solder, tape, and your done.

Woohoo I found one at the local truck only junkyard, quoted me $50 for EVERYTHING I need. Hell yeah, the guy is giving me a big time deal and that works just fine for me.
