Re: Pictures of ORD\'s 1\" body lift?

Well I am looking for pics of the following:
Rear-I have a hitch and want to see how much gap there is
    Front-any gap?
Side-I have nerf bars and wanted to see if there would look funny with the 1"body lift?

    Thanks for the help!

I'll get out the digital cam tomorow...I wouldnt worry about your truck looking "funny" though, with only an inch of body lift, it doesnt really create much of a gap. You cant tell at all in the front...and in the back, it only makes a gap about half an inch or so. I can see the little aluminum blocks when I am scrubbing my rear license plate...but otherwise, never notice them. Same with the sides, not much gap.

At any rate, for non-believers I will post some pictures tomorow...

Ok, my 75' has the ORD 1" body lift with new energy suspension body mounts. Here are some pics.

Hard to see in this pic, but that's basically the ORD 1" puck on top of the Energy Susp. mount:

    no, no major install probs.
Except, you will definately run into rusted body bolts.
You may have to grind them off. (I had to grind off 4 body bolts)
An impact wrench will be your best friend.
PB Blaster or any other kind of "liquid wrench" type stuff.
Besides all that, I don't remember any other problems.

Did you have to loosen steering shaft and adjust, does this affect your clutch pedal if you have one?Any other obstacles? Do you use this kit with your factory rubber mounts? Looks great I would like to try but would like to know what I'm getting into first. Thanks Ron

Re: Pictures of ORD\'s 1\" body lift?

    Highlander,

Yes, the kit came with Grade 8 bolts for the body. But If I recalled correctly, I had to get two new bolts for the rear part (that goes through the tail pan), b/c the bolts suppled weren't long enough. No biggie there though. This is a weekend project. Let me tell you that I did this with no impact wrench or no air tools...all manual tools, except I went out and bought a grinder while I was doing this. If you have air tools, it may be quicker :).
But, it's not hard, make sure you do one side at a time (ie, do all the driver side first, then passenger).

    Ron,
No, no loosening on steering shaft. I have a TH350 in my 75', so I didn't have a clutch to deal with. But with only 1" body lift, you won't run into many problems as oppose to a 2" or 3" body lift.
I did not reuse the rubber mounts when I did this. I went with the Energy Suspension Poly Body mounts. My rubber ones were all crushed and crappy anyhow. I had an article on this on my old site, but that went away. I wish I still had it b/c it explained everything in detail with pics.

But the 89' doesn't have energy susp or a 1" body lift. I'll PM you some pics.
