we had a lot of bad weather here today, and this afternoon an air france jumbojet crashed after atempting to land.

the plane skided off the runway andcame to rest in the ditch seporating the air port from hwy 401 canadas busyest!

    then it caught FIRE.

there were no reports of what was going on on the radio but my brother was working VERY close by and snaped a couple of pics, and 2 vids (small avi if some one wants to host)

THey had closed the hyw because of the proxcimity and the people from the plane were able to go to the hyw to excape the wreck!!! and my brother said he saw people being bussed away from the area so most would have been OK. the plane was supost to be able to carry up to300 people!!!! so it could have been real bad!

[IMG] Witnesses said the plane may have been hit by lightning as it came into land Passengers and crew 'survive Air France crash'
    12.00AM, Wed Aug 3 2005

All passengers and crew on board an Air France plane which burst into flames after overshooting a Canadian runway are said to have survived.

A massive rescue operation is underway at Toronto's Pearson International Airport after the Airbus tried to land in a storm.

But it has been reported none of the 297 passengers and 12 crew members on board Air France AF358 have been killed.

"According to our current information and the Air France chief there, there are no casualties," an Air France spokeswoman said.

The Air France plane came off the runway, plunged into a wood and burst into flames.

Witnesses said the plane may have been hit by lightning as it came into land. Survivors said they "ran like crazy" from the wreckage.

Canadian television quoted police as saying that the pilot and a number of passengers been taken to hospital.

TV pictures show huge clouds of black smoke and orange flames billowing from the fuselage. Firefighters sprayed foam over the wreckage to damp down the flames.

well toronto airp[ort in missasagua, there right next to each other, it like on the outskirts of Toronto.

i also drove by the next morning and they were still spraying water over the plane, they had a ton of big lights set up, and already had a big fence all around, could see the tail sticking up from the trees, the plane did seem to get down the bank quite a bit.
