When I was a kid, I loved building those Plastic Models of cars. I'm lookinng for one of a lifted K5 with large tires. Something along the lines of a mid lated 70's K5 Blazer with a 6" lift and 35's on it. Think it'd be cool to have sitting on top of my computer. Any idea where to find a model of a K5. ??? Also want to send one to my 7 y/o nephew.

You can possibly find a stock or slightly mod'ed model, but you might have to mod up some of the pieces yourself. I used to do the same thing when I was a kid.

There's a guy over at RDC that does custom stuff, mainly off road race trucks. Here's some of his stuff,

    And here is his website.

    Off Road models
Maybe we can bug him enough, we can get like a CK5 Collector's Edition or something.

I've been to a couple of hobby shops to ask about K5 models. They said they don't make them and can't recall a time when they did. But for some reason, they have a model of a 3rd gen Bronco.......jackasses. /forums/images/graemlins/angryfire.gif

It's been about 7 years since I was really into models, but check the hobby shops for Scale Auto Enthusiast or Car Modeler magazines. Also FYI, over the years there have been 1st and 2nd gen Blazers, SWB and stepside P/U's and the cottage industry ( like the aftermarket ) was making Suburban bodies and 38" Swampers. Some kits came with large Ground Hawgs (= to 40's).
Way back then I started a Crew Cab Dually built from 2 std cabs, a lengthened short bed and a stepside, plus a custom frame and suspension as well as parts from many other kits.

I used to get the model kits that had optional engines, tires, wheels, ...ect. and save all my unused parts. Sometimes I'd use them on other models. Pretty cool droping a V-8 in a non V-8 model. Think that was the real beginnings of my love for Hot Rodding. Sometimes I'd buy two different models becouse I liked the body of one, but tires and wheels of the other.

Yeah, did that, couldn't find any web addresses though. Be pretty cool if I could have found a Web address for a company that makes models of both first and second gen K5's. /forums/images/graemlins/k5.gif

There are a few sites that you can go to that have tons of models. You can always try eBay, too. I hav about 30 or so musclecar models, some of them I'm still working on.
