Just broke my winshield getting it out for the second time to do my dash work. Got me to thinking. I have one other winshield that's a maybe for getting out of another truck and back in this one. So that's a possibility. Then there's buying a NEW one at upwards of $100. Yuck.

Or I could make one out of plexi, lexan, or something similar. Do you think that i could cut the shape and form it to fit myself? I've had very limited experience with that stuff, but I can tell it's somewhat flexible. And if it's doable, what material should I use? Which one is most durable, and what about glare? I know some comp rigs run this....just wondering what works WELL.

yeah i would try to get ahold of some speedglass or lexan and shape it myself...you can always rig up a ring of some sort to bolt it to...just have to silicone it if youre worried about water leakage

Yeah, i'm going to price some speedglass in the morning. Looks like a great alternative to breakable glass. Some sort of mounting system that was easy in and out would be preferrable. Maybe I can just use my existing rubber and put it in just like a regular winshield? Even though that's kinda a pita too. Maybe the rivits are a good idea. Easy to drill out and cheap to replace. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

i had another idea last night while thinking about this...if anybody used to follow the dB drag competitions(bass-off for highest spl) from a few years ago there was a team called team alma gates...they had a red bronco on boggers with 44 10" speakers...in any case, they had a lexan windshield that they split into two pieces...they made a center support and used two separate lexan shields...ill see if i can find a pic

Well, looking at the Rockstomper picture, those rivets look almost like allen head bolts. That would be kind of neat if it could be done.

While we're on the topic, not that it relates, but someday I'll get some pics of the most booty fabbed suspension lift in the world. This truck scares me and I tried to tell him, but he wouldn't listen. All street and show anyways now. I used to wheel with him when it was on 35's...much cooler I thought.

But what can i say...his buildups generate revenue, mine just eat it.... /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

cool stuff...yeah me and some of my buddies have been running some of the db drag and nopi bass off stuff for a couple years here...we stay in the 1-2 street class mostly but i used to have an s10 with 4 12s...hit up in the 150s

i hear you on the split windshield i just threw it in as another idea...team gates made theirs out of lexan

probably wont be too hard to build a rockstomper clone
