hello im from germany, and i have a question.
    i own a 1976 k20 350cui th350 np 203 4.10 ratio
and 36"x 14,5x16.5 super swampers radial tsl
i bought that truck with headers and a dual exhaust.
in germany we have some strange laws - exhaust noise.and emission control
i need two mufflers per side- i use as 1st. muffler a 2.5"
glasspack muffler, and as sec. muffler a 2.5" raptor
( i dont now who makes them, but its a short on)
so here my question what might be the perfect lenght
for my exhaust system?(beginning at the end of the headders-3.00"reduced to 2.5"
an at whitch position should i but the sec. muffler in, becouse of the resonanz( the exhaust gas wave)
my exhaust system ends with a 2.1/4" tip (????)
excuse my bad english, and thanks for your help!!

    olli

i eould put both mufflers as far away from the headders as possible, it wil give the exhaust gases more time to expand. you'll get more power, and a less blatty sound. Good luck

This is a tough one. I don't think there is an "ideal" length for a full exaust. I think size is more important. The only time I ever worried about length was on our drag cars, but then there were no mufflers! The size will affect backpressure for the engine. Do you know what performance items are in engine other than the headers? bigger cam(specs??) aftermarket intake? carb?? In a mostly stock engine 2 1/2 would be to big. 2"-2 1/4 would be better. but that all depends on how the engine is built and what rpm's engine runs.

    thanks for your quick answer.
my engine is normal, but i think about buying a edelbrock performer package.
or do you think there is a better product as the perf. package?
in germany you dont have so much shops were you can buy some performance parts.
so let my tell you somthink, i need 1 superswamper 36"x14.5x16.5 radial tsl!
the cheapest dealer in germany wants 500 euro ( dont now whats the price in dollar? x)
do you know a way of saving money??? tell me!
    thanks olli

Euro and dollars is almost same today Olli, tho to get the stuff from US think baut the shipment and the importtax that will be applyed. (EU sucks when dealing with imports outside the union). Btw if you have any decent links to german 4x4 shops please sent it hehe, trying to locate the shops I can in europe to check prices VS importing myself to sweden. There isnt many that deals with 4x4 stuff in europe, at least not older chevy, tho some are out there just hard to find (.
