Do you counts the points on both sides or just one side ?? Got a buck out in the yard right not with 3 points on each rack, so is he a 3 point or 6 point buck ??

Depends on what part of the country your in. Some places add up all the points. Some will only count the points on the main tines while other will include the eye guards (the small points at the base of the rack).
Here where I live we only count one side and do not include the eye guards. Another thing we do is if a buck has two points (again not counting eye guards) we call it a forked horn, while other places its a four point and others it could be a six point. Confused yet?

3 on each side including Brow tines would be called a 6-point around here. Here's an example of an 8-point for reference.

This guy hangs out about 5 feet from where my wife takes her smoke breaks. How many points would he be?

No after, just a random pic off the net.

Looks like a 10 pernt to me. Those are some cool shots of that Muley. Must be a pet to get that close.

Not a pet. My wife's office is an old house on the side of a mountain, with no other buildings within 1/2 mile. This deer just comes down off the mountain, and lays in the sun by the sidewalk. The one shot where he has one ear laid back is when my wife was talking to him.

When I hunt in Minnesota people count all the points. When I hunt in Wyoming they count one side and sometimes they don't include the browtines. Just depends on where you are.

Better do it behind the wife's back too, while she not there and when she asks why he doesn't come around anymore and where all the new burgers and jerky came from, have a good story ready! :D

that's weird, i had no idea some of you people only counted one side... what if it's a nine-point, do you count the one with the most points?? here in oklahoma we count 'em all, including browtines... congrats on your SIX point..

That's because the deer are so puny here, they would be considered a dog w/ antlers out west:eek1:

I think by saying 4X5 w/ brow tines, is just more descriptive, if you say 11 point who knows what it may look like, could have 9 points on one side w/ brow tine and a spike on the other...

Yeah if it were that extreme, but not necessarily, I would consider this more non typical[IMG]And wouldn't my lil deer I shot this year, it had a spike on one side and a fork on the other...I've never seen any non tpicals around here it's more of a white tail and big muley thing, I think...Man it'd cool as hell though....
